When I saw a preview for the new 'sequel' to "Alice in Wonderland", I could not wait to see it. Even though the film ended up being much different than I had imagined, it was definitely not a disappointment.

For anyone who is a fan of Tim Burton films, you should be pleased with his latest work because it stays true to his style.

Wonderland in this version, is much different than the colorful, musical place from the original Disney movie. Wonderland, which is actually called Underland in the film is a dark, and dreary place under the rule of the dreaded Red Queen we all remember from our childhood.

There were some familiar characters from the original version.

Johnny Depp was his usual wonderfully weird self in the film, fulfilling the role of the Mad Hatter perfectly.

Helen Bonham Carter was inspired as the Red Queen, she brought a quirky aspect to the character that gave the audience some humor in the film.

Anne Hathaway played the White Queen, and while she looked beautiful, she could tend to be a little too whimsical at some points.

The plot of the film is interesting and can definitely pull in the audience especially those of us who loved the first film from our childhood.

Even though the film is not a traditional sequel it seems to have been well received by those who have seen it and I would definitely recommend it for its individuality.
