Rain, rain, go away: Pruitt Holmes, a junior from Hendersonville, Tenn., walks home after class Wednesday equipped with her rain boots and bright pink umbrella.

With football, scarves and a little too much rain, fall has arrived, and each student likes something different about the season.

Allie Walker, a Lexington, Tenn., junior, said her favorite part about fall is being able to wear boots and wearing layered clothes again.

However, she said she hates cold weather and would rather it be summer.

Walker said autumn prepares her for an exciting holiday season. She said Halloween is her favorite holiday and she plans to dress up as Lady Gaga.

"Fall gets me excited for Christmas but not finals," Walker said. "I'm already getting stressed about them."

Although some people may associate rain boots with fall weather, Walker said she wears hers year round. Walker said she has a green pair of Hunter Wellington rain boots that she got on sale at a great price.

Brooke Bentley, a Bristol, Tenn., junior, said her favorite part of fall is football because it is fun going to the games. She said her favorite team is the Chattanooga Mocs.

Bentley said the season makes her think of family because of the upcoming holidays.

"I love Halloween," Bentley said. "I love getting dressed up and seeing everyone's creative ideas."

Bentley said all the recent rain has made it miserable to walk to class. She said she usually thinks she would never use a pair of rain boots, but the weather has changed her mind.

Liz Zipperer, a Nashville junior, said the best part about fall is the weather and being able to wear scarves again.

"It's not too hot, and it's not too cold," Zipperer said.

Zipperer said she likes when the trees begin to change colors in the fall

and loves Thanksgiving. She said all the elements of fall are an introduction to Christmas, which is her favorite holiday.

Zipperer said she has got a lot of use out of her black and white pair of houndstooth patterned rain boots lately.

"I only sport them when it's raining though," Zipperer said.

Jake Hamilton, a Lexington, Tenn., junior, said he likes fall because the weather is nice, and he is able to get outside more often. He also said the nicer weather makes going to football games more enjoyable.

Hamilton said the recent rain Chattanooga has had may have kept some people indoors, but it does not slow him down.

"Give me a good poncho and let's ride it out, " he said.
