Renee Haugerud and husband John H. Murphy donated a project development gift of $1.5 million to create The Renee Haugerd and John H. Murphy Global Finance Center for the College of Business.
The vision of the new center is to become a destination for business students everywhere, particulary female business students.
It will offer unique programs that focus on various aspects of the finance industry, ranging from ethics and brain chemistry to globalization.
Officials are in the process of brainstorming a financial live trading facility where courses dealing with speculative markets, investments and securities analysis will become available.
In addition to the $1.5 million donated to the business school project, Haugerud and Murphy gave $500,000 to the Mocs football program.
Regarding the donations, Chancellor Roger Brown said: "We are very thankful to Renee and Murphy for their vision and their generous gift.
"Their support of business and football will directly enhance opportunities for students in these programs."
