The UTC wrestling team went back to work this weekend looking to defeat two top 25 ranked teams from Iowa.

Chattanooga started the weekend off against No. 2 Iowa State, a very familiar place for Chattanooga coach Chris Bono.

Bono had a successful wrestling career as a Cyclone from 1994 to 97, including a National Title at 150 pounds in 1996.

The Mocs were not able to defeat Bono's Alma Mater, dropping the duel 37-6. The Mocs were unable to win any of their matches in Ames, Iowa including a loss for No. 9 Cody Cleveland, Tullahoma, Tenn., at the 141-pound weight class to No. 3 Nick Gallick.

Gallick is the brother of Moc's Assistant Coach Nate Gallick. Cleveland was 1-1 against Gallick in his career, but Gallick was able to defeat Cleveland 12-0 Saturday.

The only points for the Mocs came at the 133-pound weight class where sophomore Josh Statum, Homewood, Ala., took a forfeit.

The next day, Chattanooga traveled to face No. 21 Northern Iowa.

The Mocs had a little more success against the Panthers, but were unable to pick up the victory, losing 18-12.

UTC and Northern Iowa split the first four matches. Cleveland lost his second match of the weekend with a 6-4 upset by Northern Iowa's Trent Washington.

Junior Joey Knox, Dublin, Ga., was able to put the Mocs ahead with a 2-1 decision at 157, but the Panther's No. 4 Maza Fay defeated senior Seth Garvin, Hoover, Ala., to tie up the duel.

The next four matches went to Northern Iowa, and even with an upset win from freshman Cody Sliger, Ooltewah, the Mocs could not battle back.

The Mocs hold their final regular season match against the VMI Monday. It will be Senior Night at MacLellan gym and it is set to start at 6 p.m.
