These titles, ranging from the pulse pounding action in "Left 4 Dead" to the new game in the Tiger Woods series, to the introduction of a game that teaches you how to cook real meals were in high demand thoughout November and December, Dickson said.
Josh Fogleman, a Knoxville senior, said Tiger Woods and EA Sports returned with another impressive installment in their Tiger Woods PGA Tour series. The 2009 edition sports new improvements to the online game modes, allowing players to take their strokes at the same time. This helps speed up the game to suit the more casual gamer's schedule.
Fogleman said he received the game as a present and he really likes the changes they have made to the swing mechanics.
"It does take some getting used to at first, but I really do like how the game interprets my swing now," Fogleman said.
James Webb, a junior from Maryville, Tenn., said he received "Personal Trainer: Cooking" on the Nintendo DS as a gift. He said he has enjoyed using it to experiment in cooking different styles of foods.
"It's fun to go shopping with my DS because it has all of the shopping lists for different recipes right in the game," Webb said. "It also has a built-in calendar that tracks every time I use it to cook something new."
One of the most interesting components to the game, Webb said, is the voice command tutorial mode. The game acts as a coach and cooking timer as it walks you through step-by-step instructions which you can advance with the sound of your voice.
"I love it," Webb said. "I now have a ton of recipes I want to try out."
