After a disappointing start, The Lady Mocs soccer team hopes to get its first win of the season when it travels to High Point University Friday at 7 p.m.

The team is coming off a home opening loss against Lipscomb last Friday.

The game, originally scheduled to be an away game, was the second 1-0 loss for the Lady Mocs. The team had many chances to score in the game, outshooting the Lady Bisons 13-7. However, the game remained scoreless through halftime.

In the 64th minute, Chattanooga's defense finally let one slip by as Lipscomb scored off a corner kick.

Currently, the team has compiled a record of 0 wins, 3 losses and 1 tie. Success has not come easy for the team. It lost its season opener 0-1 to Belmont Aug. 31 and lost its second game 1-4 to Tennessee Tech a week later.

Although the team has yet to win a game, the Lady Mocs have competed at a very high level. Sara Francescon, a Nashville freshman, scored the team's goal against Tennessee Tech.
But Tennessee Tech commanded the victory from the Lady Mocs by scoring 4 goals in the game, giving the team their second loss of the season.

The team then traveled to Eastern Kentucky University for another non-conference game in Richmond, Ky. to face the Colonels.

This was the second game the team was on the field since the cancellation of the game against Alabama A&M due to a conflict with Alabama's schedule. The last two games the team played were against Eastern Kentucky University Sept. 11 and Lispscomb Sept. 14.

The game was a display of defense by both teams as freshman goal keeper Milla Junni, a Hyvenkaa, Finland freshman, had 13 saves, keeping EKU from scoring. Unfortunately, UTC could not produce any goals either despite Francescon's two attempts at the goal.

The game lasted through double overtime and was finally called a tie at 0-0.

One strong point for the team has been the play of Junni in the goal.

The team is now focusing on High Point for their first win of the season.

Head coach J.D. Kyzer will have his team ready and will once again look for its first win of the season to get the team back on track and gain confidence.

The Panthers of High Point, who play in the Big South Conference, have a 1-3-2 record so far this year.

A win can certainly have a positive outlook on the rest of the future for the team and establish high hopes for future games on their schedule.
