A Chi Omega sorority member died on Monday morning. The cause of her death has not been determined.

Cassie Clements, a Soddy Daisy senior, was found unresponsive in her car by her friend Janelle Kline, also a Soddy Daisy senior.

Kline woke up to the sound of a carbon monoxide alarm in Clements's home on Monday morning about 8 a.m. She then found Clements inside her car which was still running.

According to the police report, Sgt. Steve Dillard, detective for the Red Bank Police Department, arrived at the residence to find Clements already deceased.

Kline was then taken to Erlanger Hospital to be treated for inhalation of carbon monoxide, but has now been released.

Funeral services for Clements were held at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home Wednesday at 3 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Middle Valley Church Christ at 1836 Thrasher Pike, Hixson, Tenn., 37343.

Sgt. Dillard said, "We are waiting on the medical examiner to give the exact ruling, at this time we don't see any evidence of it being anything other than accidental."

Erin McCraw, a sophomore from Murfreesboro, Tenn., is one of Clements' sorority sisters.

McCraw said: "It really only takes meeting her for a few minutes to realize what a great person she is. Everyone's going to miss her, and we just keep tying to think of the good times and the funny things that she did."

"She was the kind of person that would just sit in her car listening to music or talking on the phone and just didn't think about it. I wouldn't think about it," she said.

Members of Chi Omega are wearing red, yellow and black ribbons pinned with a group of pearls in honor of Clements.

McCraw said a memorial service is being planned, but the details have not been decided.
